Jay-Z is making a new album, and Timbo is producing

Timbaland says J wants him to produce the whole album

Timbaland was interview by MTV and he said hip-hop mogul Jay-Z asked him to produce his next album. The long time friends have a healthy track record producing such hits as “Big Pimpin” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder.” But even further, Timbo promises greatness.

“I’mma make it a classic too. You better believe it. It’ll be a monster! I always say this: You get a first single from me, I’mma get you up to gold. And it’s hard to get you up to gold in this day.”

We have come to expect a good record from these two, but will they live up too the hype?! Some people say Jigga’s last album, American Gangster, wasn’t all that great. He a lot of hip hop heads say Tim is on his pop/rock & roll and has forgotten how to do a good hip hop record. (Unless you count Flo Rida’s “Elevator”…. lol)

Nas gets at Jesse Jackson

Nas goes hard on Brother Jesse

“I think Jesse Jackson, he’s the biggest player hater” -Nas

Oh yeah! He said it. I can’t help but instigate when people say stuff like that. It entertains me. We all heard what Brother Jesse said about Barack “Jesus’ lil brotha” Obama. Well, Nas had something to say about that.

“His time is up. All you old n—as, time is up. We heard your voice, we saw your marching, we heard your sermons. We don’t wanna hear that sh– no more. It’s a new day. It’s a new voice. I’m here now. We don’t need Jesse; I’m here. I got this. We got Barack, we got David Banners and Young Jeezys. We’re the voice now. It’s no more Jesse. Sorry. Goodbye. You ain’t helping nobody in the ‘hood. That’s the bottom line. Goodbye, Jesse. Bye!”

His words are a little bit strong, but I agree with tha overall idea. Huey Newton said, “The revolution is in the young people.” I believe that is what Nas is trying to say, more or less. The only problem is too many of us rather be “ganstas” rather than leaders.

Is it a real reaction to a comment overheard or a well-timed publicity stunt a week before Nas’s already controversal album releases. In any event, Nas’s untitled album releases tommorrow July, 15th. Plus, he’ll be in Union Square tommorrow signing copies.

Congrats to Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne sells a million copies in a short week

Lil Wayne reached platinum status after just one week of his album being released. That’s really not a big deal in most genres with a large artist. But in hip-hop, that’s huge.

Taking in the fact that he also had a DJ release his album prematurely, Lil Wayne did something special. Honestly, I thought he was definitely going to flop after one of the most anticipated albums of the year gets leaked.

In my opinion, the album could have been better. But you have to respect the history of what just happened. Once again, Congradulations Wayne on all your success.
